Phonak ComPilot: This article is meant to illustrate how the Plantronics MDA200 USB switch and a USB Bluetooth Adapter can be used in combination with a Phonak ComPilot to connect a hearing aid user with a desk phone or computer softphone. I have a Phonak device that needs to be set up via Bluetooth so I can program it by computer. It uses a USB Bluetooth and is paired with another thing called an iCube. I can get all that set up but it requires a Serial Port 4 or lower - got that.I think there is some little setting that is not letting it completely use my device. To get started with iCube II, the pre-paired USB adapter only needs to be plugged into a free USB port on the fitting PC. The connection is established automatically when iCube II is selected as the fitting device in Phonak Target 4.0 (or newer). If needed, iCube II can also be connected wirelessly via Bluetooth to any other PC or tablet. Serial COM port for HI-PRO (can be replaced by a USB - Serial COM port adaptor), One USB Port for each used unit: Bluetooth adaptor for NOAHlink/iCube, iCube (if via USB), HI-PRO USB, myPilot/iCom; NOAHlink soft- and firmware: Latest version available iPFG does not support NOAH 2. Thanks a lot Roberto. I have run/installed it etc, which all seemed fine. I restarted it and under the device manager the 'TUSB3410 EECode Ser' is still showing up with the little warning sign and saying that the drivers for this device are not installed (code 28), there are no compatible drivers for this device.
The Phonak ComPilot allows wireless bluetoothconnectivity with devices such as phones, televisions, laptops, mp3 players and stereos. This Phonak ComPilot link provides some guidelines on using the device, including how to pair it with a Bluetooth device. Section 5 of the Phonak ComPilot User Manual explains how to configure the streamer for making phone calls. (The ComPilot must be configured as a remote control by your hearing care professional).

The Plantronics SSP2714 Bluetooth adapter together with the MDA200 switch provides the connection between the hearing aid Bluetooth transmitter and your desk phone. The MDA200 has the additional benefit of providing a connection to your PC for use with computer voice applications such as Skype.

To pair the SSP with a Phonak Compilot device:
a. Place the Phonak ComPilot into pairing mode.
b. Plug the SSP into the USB port on your computer (or USB switch – see MDA200 below). The light on the SSP flashes rapidly. When pairing is successful, the light on the SSP becomes solid blue.
MDA200 USB Switch: The MDA200 is a multi device switcher that allows you to turn a USB audio device (e.g. the SSP Bluetooth USB adapter) into a multipoint node. The MDA200 lets you answer, end and switch calls between your desk phone and your PC softphone with a press of a button. It allows you to manage calls from PC, desk phone and even a mobile phone when used with Bluetooth USB headsets.

The picture to the left shows the MDA200 and SSP combination, which will communicate with various hearing aid Bluetooth pendants to connect to both a PC softphone and a deskphone. The MDA 200 also supports remote call control on the desk phone, either through a HL10 handset lifter or via an Electronic Hookswitch (EHS) cable where supported by the desk phone.
